This drop down accessory turns a van into a caravan

If you don’t have money or space for a caravan … why not convert your van into one? It is simpler and cheaper than it seems.

Many people dream of owning a caravan, but they cost a lot of money, and you need a place to store it in winter. If you already have a van, this accessory from the French company BaeuEr has caught our attention. X-Van turns a van into a caravan with space for four people.

Add more than one square meter of extra space to any van, allowing install a double bed (included), with optional accessories such as a kitchen and a table, to turn the van into a real caravan. An additional accessory for the roof adds two single beds.

You will have it clearer if you see how it works in this video. The installation process only takes 10 minutes, you only have to do it once, and there are versions for all makes of vans: Renault, Peugeot, Volskwagen, Fiat, CitroΓ«n, Ford, Mercedes, etc.

BeauEr is famous for its extendable caravans, which expand with a spyglass system, tripling in size. It has taken advantage of this technology to develop X-Van, since it is an accessory that also it stretches from inside the van, to turn it into a caravan.

As we can see, you just have to install some side panels secured with two screws (customized for each caravan model) and introduce the X-Van inside the van, through the rails. This allows the extension to be easily removed or inserted using a handle.

Using an electrical system, once we have extended the X-Van the bed is positioned automatically. It is a system similar to that of its famous caravan that stretches, which also incorporates the extendable bed:

As we have discussed, BeauEr also sells optional accessories, such as an indoor kitchen and a table to use with the van seats rotated, with which we get a bedroom with kitchen and living room, like a real caravan. Only the bathroom is missing …

It is not the most spacious solution in the world, but it does meet its goal of accommodating up to four people, with the two additional beds to be placed on the roof.

X-Van is priced at 6,990 euros, which is not cheap, but it does cost much less than a caravan. The kitchen is worth 390 euros. The ceiling accessory with the two beds raises the price to 7,900 euros. You have more information on their website.
